2.) Sporting Group is always eh. Oh look, eighty varieties of retrievers and spaniels. Dave raises the interesting point that while Golden Retrievers are not really hunting dogs these days they are still judged as such. I am okay with this, as they were at one point, hunting dogs (as in, oh hey, let me go get that bird for you, boy that sounds like fun). Also, German shorthair pointers 4 lyfe.
I think my skepticism regarding the Sporting group stems mostly from wanting to see the show include a talent competition. Whether it’s retrieving a dead pheasant, hunting a live puffin (go Norwegian Lundehund!), riding a surfboard, or even singing along to some emo, these dogs shouldn’t have to get by on looks alone. Besides, it would definitely take the Pekingese out of the running, because who’s ever seen a Pekingese do anything sporty or challenging? (This voodoo stuff doesn’t count; in fact, it makes me further suspicious of Pekingese.)
